Readership Ability

CSR 309 is quite informative. We had a workshop that I feel was very helpful in developing my personal and professional growth. The workshop was no doubt 5 hours long which was a bummer but it was a great experience. The speaker for the workshop was Kirk Weisler. The most profound idea that he spoke on that really got my attention was having the ability to read but not utilizing the skill. It made me realize how much I do not read and how much I am costing myself in growth by not using my abilities as best. Since the workshop, I have gotten together a list of books I would like to read for this year alone. Thank You Kirk for making me realize something so fundamental about using your abilities. It's ironic that they instill that reading is important in grade school then when we are in our careers we don't read.

P.S. For more on Kirk Weisler go to kirkweisler.com

  1. I believe this blog has some great material but you could expand some more in certain areas. For example I would love to know what books you would like to read this year and maybe why. I really enjoyed Kirks workshop and it sounds like you did as well. It would be nice to see some other things you got out of the lecture or maybe even something that you disagreed with that Kirk discussed. As get alder is sometimes when we need to be reminded the most on things like continuing to read and the importance of it. It is ironic that as a child it is heavily enforced but as you grow up it is a choice. Just like many things in life, it’s our choice to take the step or initiative to continue to grow. Everyone walked away from this workshop with something that stuck with them, I would have liked to read more about that in this blog but still enjoyed your thoughts. Thanks!!!
